The Black Flash, Black Speedster of Death, is coming to a CW Universe near you!
It was disclosed this weekend at the Television Critic’s Association’s Winter Press Tour by the showrunner for The Flash, Andrew Kreisberg, that the Black Flash would again be darkening the door of Team Flash at some point this season.
“I will say that you might be seeing him on multiple shows,” Kreisberg divulged. While this is very cool news, it’s really not unexpected. Crossovers among the DC/CW shows have now become somewhat commonplace and fortunately, they do it well. Heroes and villains are consistently jumping from Earth to Earth so why shouldn’t the speedster of death? It would be interesting to see the other teams take on an evil speedster on their own and how they would defeat him.
We got a brief glimpse of the Black Flash in season 2 when Barry took on Hunter Zolomon, also known as the sinister speedster Zoom, which was portrayed by Teddy Sears. Moments after Barry had defeated him, we witnessed Zoom morph into the Black Flash. Pretty freakin’ scary looking too! However, it’s more than likely that we will see a different actor in the role of Black Flash. TV Guide reports that Teddy Sears is currently committed to a role in Fox’s 24: Legacy.
Kreisberg plans to get his money’s worth out of the character. “He’s a classic character. We have storylines on multiple shows that fit having him around. There’s something so scary about him, something even scarier than when he was just the man, because now it’s now he is the Grim Reaper, he is the devil. How do you stop the devil? So it presents an interesting challenge for the heroes of the respective shows in which he appears.”
What do you think about the Black Flash going up against other super-teams? Let us know.
The Flash returns to the CW following in the midseason premiere on Jan. 24 at 8 p.m. ET.
