GOTHAM is set to return in January and it’s been tweeted, leaked, rumored, hinted or however else you want to say it, that Cameron Monaghan‘s “joker-fied” Jerome would be back as well. Now, finally, we may have some concrete evidence supporting just that in an official synopsis for the show’s mid-season premiere.
It wasn’t planned for the character of Jerome to see the light of day past season 2. But Cameron Monaghan’s proto-Joker performance went over so well with audiences that the showrunners had no choice but to bring him back for season 3 and it’s no surprise really. Fans of the series have been clamoring for the show to dip more than it’s big toe into the waters of the Dark Knight’s world and Jerome’s appearance was like a cannonball dive. The fans were so overwhelmed by the character’s appearance and performance that they were going to hold onto it with a death grip, never intending to let go any time soon.
Monaghan himself has fueled this fire several times over past months by posting Joker-esque images of himself on various social media outlets. Now, with the official synopsis for the next episode of GOTHAM, titled “Ghosts”, we get a hint of how that might actually happen.
