It’s just been reported that Syfy has just cast and revealed the final cast member for its Superman prequel series, Krypton, and it just happens to be a Game of Thrones alum.
Game of Thrones’ own Ian McElhinney, who portrayed Barristan Selmy on the HBO series, has joined the series and if you ask me, they’ve made an excellent choice in doing so. The ensemble cast consists of Elliot Cowan (Da Vinci’s Demons), Ann Ogbomo (World War Z), Rasmus Hardiker (Your Highness), Wallis Day (The Royals) and Aaron Pierre (Tennison). There’s a lot of talent in that short list!
Here’s a breakdown of cast/character portrayals. McElhinney will be playing Val-El, Seg-El’s grandfather Val-El, a known intellect with the capacity for finding trouble and ruffling feathers, who tries in vain to warn Krypton’s elite population about the resurgence of an ancient threat to them all. Cowan’s character is Daron Vex, Kandor’s Chief Magistrate who defends Krypton’s governing body against nonconformists. Day will be portraying Nyssa Vex, the daughter of Daron Vex’s and a junior magistrate.
Ogbomo is playing Lyta Zod’s mother, Primus Alura Zod, who’s also one of Krypton’s military leaders. Pierre is Dev-Em, a cadet under Alura Zod. Hardiker will portray Kem, Seg-El’s best friend, ally and radical engineer. Also in this list of thespians we have the previously cast leads for the series, Cameron Cuffe as Seg-El, and Georgina Campbell as Lyta Zod.
