In light of the Licensing Expo currently taking place in Las Vegas, Warner Bros. has finally released an official synopsis for Batman v Superman. It reads as follows:
Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own
formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior,
while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.
This totally aligns itself with the pics that we’ve seen over the past year as well as with
the tone of the first teaser trailer itself. Zak Snyder and screenwriter Chris Terrio take the Man of Steel to its next natural step. And that’s where Batman comes in. With Superman being an alien and perceived as a possible threat to humanity in the public’s eye, the Dark Knight has no choice but to confront this being head on.
But we have yet to see how Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor factors into the story. And what is this new threat that we keep hearing about? Does it refer to Luthor or some other antagonist that we have yet to be introduced to? And where does Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman fit into the storyline? It sure is getting crowded in this movie. But it’s a good kind of crowded. It’s going to be interesting to see how it all evolves and comes together between now and the movie’s premiere.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens in theaters on March 26, 2016 and also stars Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons, Scoot McNairy, Jason Momoa, and Holly Hunter.
