Recently in an interview with director Reyton Reed, Cinema Blend learned that an entirely different ending for the film Ant-Man had been written. The final version that we see in theaters is a set up for Captain America: Civil War and it basically tells us that the Avengers are interested in locating Scott Lang/Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), which strongly suggests that the character will be seen in the Captain America sequel.
In the original script, Mitchell Carson(Martin Donovan), who is a double-agent for both S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra, is interested in Darren Cross’ Yellowjacket suit and wishes to purchase it. Ultimately, he steals the Cross/Pym particles and the final fight ends up being between Carson and Ant-Man. Reed had this to sy in regards to the originally scripted ending:
“At the end of the movie he gets away and has these Cross particles, and there was a sequence where Ant-Man has an encounter with him. But then for a couple reasons, it felt like maybe we should leave those particles out there. In that original thing, he took Martin Donovan out and got the particles.”
An interesting alternative to what audiences see on screen. What do you think about the originally planned ending?
Ant-Man is currently playing in theaters.
