On tonight’s episode of The Flash, “The Fury of Firestorm”, we’ll finally be introduced to the NEW Firestorm.
Barry and the gang attempt to pair Dr. Stein with a new partner to prevent his health from further deteriorating since the loss of his other hero half, Ronnie Raymond(Robbie Amell). But apparently it’s not going to be easy or fun.
TVLine caught up to the production as it filmed in Vancouver and had a chance to chat with the cast. “We need to find someone to pair him with to make his body whole again,” series lead Grant Gustin stated “So we’re trying to find a compatible match, but he’s declining quickly and things don’t go as smoothly as everyone would like them to go.”
There are some candidates for the team to choose from. But not just anyone will do. As they said in the Highlander movies, “there can be only one”. “There are a couple Firestorm options, and there are some fun scenes with those guys,” Gustin revealed.
As we’ve already reported here, that the honor goes to a young ex-school athlete and mechanic named Jax, portrayed by Franz Drameh. “He’s not power-hungry for it” Drameh explains, “and in that respect, he won’t abuse his abilities.”
But that doesn’t mean that it’s going to be a marriage made in heaven.
“It’s going to be fun to see this whole new Firestorm and just how Jax reacts with Stein,” Drameh states. “There’s a lot of back and forth, and it’s a love-hate relationship between the two.”
Dr. Stein himself, Victor Garber, confessed that, “The dynamic is very different. I miss Robbie [Amell] because I love Robbie, but I’m very happy with the casting in this department. He’s a tremendous actor and a wonderful person. Because it’s a very different dynamic, it’s completely challenging and fun to play.”
What are your thought on this new pairing?
