Actors come and go throughout The CW Universe quite frequently as if there existed a revolving door between shows. The latest actor to step out of said door is none other than Smallville alum, Tom Welling, who says that he willing to take his first step back into a superhero show’s spotlight.
Now, don’t get your tights into a bunch just yet. Welling isn’t interested in taking on another superhero role, he’d just like to make an appearance on one of The CW’s shows. At least, we don’t think he is. The folks over at Nuke the Fridge caught up with Welling at a shindig for Fox’s upcoming Fall Lineup. The network’s show Lucifer is returning this fall, on which Welling has a recurring role this season.
Showing little interest to returning to tights since the end of Smallville’s run, it seems that Welling has put a lot of thought into how this can happen and also expresses interest in one show alone- The Flash.
“I am willing to go on The Flash,” Welling confessed, “and I have a few ideas on how it can happen if the network asks me. In fact, I think I can make it happen.”
I’m sure the producers of The Flash would be happy to sit down with Welling and listen to his ideas, though, things in Hollywood seldom happen that easily. But I for one would say that his chances are very good. Fellow Smallville veteran, Erica Durance, will have her own recurring role on Supergirl this season, so Welling appearing on The Flash is definitely not out of the realm of possibilities. With the way that The Flash’s writers have him passing in and out of alternate universes and realities, I’m sure that it won’t be too long before we see Tom Welling sharing the screen with The Flash’s own Grant Gustin.
