With the success of Marvel Studio’s monster hit, The Avengers, the pressure was on to make it’s sequel, Avengers: Age of Ultron even more spectacular. The question would be, how? The answer, go with what you know or in this case, who you know. Enter conceptual artist Phil Saunders.
Phil Saunders is well known to Marvel Studios and he’s also well known for turning out amazing concept art. He’s provided designs for mega-hits such as Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), The Avengers (2012) and Iron Man (2008). With a resume such as this, who better to create new designs for Iron Man armor than him?
The awesome designs that he came up with you can see below. Saunders commented on his ideas on his Facebook page:
“A much more complex, organic and anatomical approach than previous designs.”
The classic red and gold color theme is maintained with subtle variations in the helmet design. The hexagonal Chest Repulsor Transmitter is a nice design change as is the female artificial intelligence A.I. Friday addition.
“These are unused (first 2 images below) and final designs for the new Iron Man Mark 45 armor worn by Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) during the the Battle of Sokovia,” Saunder’s stated.
