The entertainment world was dealt a horrible blow yesterday with the passing of Carrie Fisher. While she will be widely remembered as Princess Leia from the Star Wars film franchise, she will also be remembered for a long list of other film projects as well as her authored books by friends and fans alike. To honor her and her work, we are posting a video of her audition for Star Wars which she did opposite Harrison Ford.
Harrison Ford also released a very heartfelt statement to TheWrap regarding the passing of his costar and friend:
“Carrie was one-of-a-kind…brilliant, original. Funny and emotionally fearless. She lived her life, bravely… My thoughts are with her daughter Billie, her Mother Debbie, her brother Todd, and her many friends. We will all miss her.”
Mark Hamill finally released a statement on Twitter regarding his friend’s passing as well. At first hearing the sad news, Hamill remarked only that he had no words and that he was truly devastated. Once the initial shock subsided he had this to say:
“It’s never easy to lose such a vital, irreplaceable member of the family, but this is downright heartbreaking,” Hamill wrote. “Carrie was one-of-a-kind who belonged to us all – whether she liked it or not. She was our Princess, damn it, and the actress who played her blurred into one gorgeous, fiercely independent and ferociously funny, take-charge woman who took our collective breath away. Determined and tough, but with a vulnerability that made you root for her and want her to succeed and be happy.”
This entertainment industry has lost many in 2016. Fortunately for all, we will get one more chance to see Carrie Fisher up on the big screen. Prior to her death, she completed shooting of all of her scenes for Star Wars: Episode VIII which is scheduled to premiere in December of 2017. Though she is now one with The Force, she will be sorely missed by all.
