We love bringing you unused concept art because it’s always fun to see concepts for films that never were and fantasizing how they might have changed the film’s final outcome if they had made it into the final cut.
And when it comes to kickass artwork, Marvel Studios concept artist Phil Saunders never disappoints. Saunders recently shared some never-before-seen, hi-res images of his work from Avengers: Infinity War. In them, we see none other than the MCU’s Dr. Stephen Strange rockin’ Tony Stark’s Iron Man armor!
In the film, it all would have gone down during Doctor Strange’s battle with Ebony Maw. Along with the artwork, Saunders also reveals that once donning the armor, the hero’s new code name would have been “Iron Strange”! Knowing that this scene once existed in the Avenger: Infinity War’s original script but was eventually scrapped, is mind-blowing on several levels.
Without a doubt, it would have made amazing imagery on the screen. Now, thanks to Saunders, we can get a glimpse of what it may have looked like.
“[This was] an idea that was cut from the script of Avengers: Infinity War,” Saunders explains. “On the Q-Ship, Tony Stark was going to transfer his armor to Strange to protect him from Ebony Maw’s torture needles.” We also have “a keyframe of the Mk50 Iron Man suit forming over Dr. Strange, protecting him from Ebony Maw’s magic needle torture” in a second batch of concept art.
Check out Phil’s art in all its coolness below. Cheers!
